George was born December 26, 1930 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, the oldest child to Henry and Eva Furniss.
He worked for Bank of Nova Scotia for many years and met his wife Patricia in Vernon, where they both worked. After a few years, he was promoted to bank manager, and his position took him to many different communities, and he ended up in Squamish, where he retired at age 57. After retiring from the bank, he became a financial advisor and continued doing that until the age of 89.
He was very active with many activities such as golfing, skiing, walking, riding his bike and playing soccer and floor hockey with the younger crowd.
For many years, he played the bass guitar in a band in Port Hardy and he and his wife Pat were also part of the Tsusquana singers in Port Hardy, and then after retirement, they moved to Parksville and joined the craig bay choristers.
George is predeceased by his wonderful wife Patricia Furniss, whom he was married to for 57 years, and also his parents Henry and Eva Furniss and his sister Joan Flood.
He is survived by daughter Heather Banyard (Steve), son Geoffrey Furniss (Judy) 6 granddaughters, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
We would like to thank the staff at Village at Mill Creek for their kindness and care, and a special thank you to Dr Koss.
George loved being with his family and was so proud of all of them.
He was loved by all and we will miss him dearly.
