With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished wife and mother Joan Agnes Desmeules, nee Fuller, Dec. 29, 2024 at KGH in Kelowna, BC. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the ER staff at KGH who helped ensure Mom was well taken care of and comfortable.
Joan will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Joan’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her husband, Jack and their three children, Lynn (Pete Dranchuk, sons Nolan and Lukas), Darryl, Marcia (Kaine Corrigan, son Keidis) brother Don Fuller, niece/nephew Michelle and Darren Fuller. Joan also leaves behind many family members on Jack's side: Roland & Diane, Michel & Micheline, Edith & Bernard, Damien & Daniele, Yves & Francoise and Lison & Denis and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Myrtle Fuller, sister in law Donna Fuller and Roland senior, Jeanne and Jean Desmeules.
Joan was born in Souris, Manitoba on Feb. 10, 1945, met Jack at age 18 in Trenton, Ont. then married him in Winnipeg on May 15, 1965. They followed Jack's military career, moving to Ottawa where Lynn was born. CFS Dana, Saskatchewan was next where both Darryl and Marce were born in Humboldt. They moved to CFB Bagotville, Quebec and lived near Jack's family for 4 years. Mom was uprooted again and landed in CFB Chilliwack, BC in 1978 and lived there for 6 years. She was happy as this posting enabled her to visit her family who lived on Vancouver Island. In 1984 they were posted to Jericho Beach, Vancouver and lived there for 2 years. They bought a house in Surrey and spent 1 year there before dad was posted to Lahr, West Germany for 4 years. They retired from military life and returned to their house in Surrey for 10 more years. They eventually chose to live in the sunny Okanagan, moving to Kelowna in 2001, where she made many new friends and lived here until her sudden passing at the age of 79.
She was passionate about her 3 children and 3 grandsons, always wanting to know how they were doing. She enjoyed gardening, singing, visiting with friends and had a photographic memory for historical facts earning her the nickname "History Teacher of the World". Your unconditional love will be greatly missed.
A memorial will be held at a future date. Details to be determined.
