Uncle John was my namesake.  The story goes Jim and John  were  having coffee and Jim said he needed a name and John said here take mine, and he did.  Once he stopped a guy breaking in thru my bedroom window back in Edmonton when we lived two doors down from the Evans.  Growing up he was my Uncle John,  and even after we left Edmonton, our families stayed close.  Many dinners were  had over holidays and such and were always happy events.  Lynn and I got cassette tape recorders  one Christmas and we secretly recorded a  “Dont Get Mad “ session once. 
When we played it back…  it was so funny!
I look back now so fondly and send my most heartfelt sympathies to Norma,  Lynn and Drew.           Rest In Peace Uncle John.

John and I were like brothers, I could not had a better relationship.  His parting hit a very low edge, he will always be remembered as a very favorite friend.   Rest in Peace John, I  hope we can meet again in the Life Hereafter.

So sorry to hear of John's passing.  I worked with John in the Hearing Office during the early 90's.  He was a very precise man in his work, and I always enjoyed working shifts with him.

I have such great memories of Norma and John’s fabulous hospitality when they were living in Village on the Lake  in Sherwood Park! One night we were over with Lynn and Drew having supper . Afterwords the kids were playing down in the family room. Unknown to my daughter , who was just a toddler at that time, there was a beautiful big covered hot tub in the middle of the living room! She was all dressed up , Her brother and Scotty, hoping to see and hear some thing awesome, called to hr to run across the room to where they were playing. She stepped on the hot tub cover and in she went! The sounds of John’s , my sons, and Scotty’s laughter still ring  in my ears,  and across the neighbourhood louder than my daughters yells of surprise and annoyance! Wonderful memories of John back in those days! 🥰💘 much love, and condolences to all the family! Jodi McDougall

Our condolences to Norma and family at this difficult time. John and Norma were next door neighbours of ours in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
We remember John as a kind caring neighbour. He was always there to help with any household mechanic problems we had,  including  a stubborn furnace that refused to shut off near midnight. John rescued us with his talent giving us relief from the 92 degree Fahrenheit  temperature in our house. John enjoyed photography. One of our most cherished photos is one he took of our dog Sunny.

My most sincere condolences to Norma, and her family.   John and I became good friends when we moved across the street in Village-on-the-Lake,
 from John and Norma in 1983.  I always enjoyed his sense of humor and wit.  He was a sincere, honest person who cherished his family and friends.  John was exceedingly handy and could solve problems readily.  One of his greatest aspirations was to live in the Okanagan Valley.  He always proclaimed "Out here Winter comes a month later and Spring a month earlier."  John's legacy will live on in our hearts forever.  He will be sadly missed.

John was very good to me.   i have many fond memories spending time with him when I was in my late teens. We went gold panning at Bear Creek and also were able to get out for a couple hunts.  we weren't lucky in getting anything but we enjoyed spending time together.
