John William King

John is survived by his wife, Anne Bruil and her children Karen (Kier), James, and grandchildren, Hanna and Corbin, Anne’s siblings Hetty (Larry), Clari (Koos), John (Sandy), Larry (Lisa) and their children and extended family. John is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Mike), Brenda (Bob), brother Carl (Teresa), Auntie Kaye, as well as his children, Ashley, Jessica, and Sean and four grandchildren.

John had the gift of gab so it goes without saying he had many friends among them are Joe, Brenda, and Dave.

Johnny was always up for some adventure or excitement in his life, whether that being jumping on a horse, strapping himself in to go parasailing in Cuba, walking the suspension bridge at Sea to Sky, or getting as close as he could to a grizzly bear because he just had to get that picture.

He also very much enjoyed family time, any time he got to spend with his loved ones he cherished, always making himself available to anyone that needed a chat, or just a hug (he did give the best hugs), he will be truly missed and we’re all lucky to have had him while we did.

The family would like to thank the Kelowna cancer clinic, the Kelowna General Hospital and the Kelowna Hospice House for the care John received while there, and a special Thank you to Dr. Hughes, Dr. Dueck, and his sister Brenda for their support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kelowna Hospice House or BC Cancer-Kelowna.

A Celebration of Life will be held from the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 1:00 PM
