John Lowen

With fond memories of a well-lived life, John Lowen passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 23rd, 2025, at 95 years old.

John was born on June 2nd, 1930 in Coaldale, Alberta. He was the 6th of 13 siblings.

John met his wife, Hilda, in Lumby, BC. They married in August of 1953 and had 4 children, whom they raised in Kelowna, BC.

John was a hay farmer with a passion for Volkswagens. When he wasn’t working on the farm, he spent most of his time working on both his own and other people’s vehicles. He was passionate about helping anyone in need – guaranteed if you owned a Volkswagen, you had either bought parts from or had your VW fixed by John. He was a true handyman; there wasn’t much that he couldn’t fix.

John is remembered by Hilda, his loving wife of 71 years. His children Gerald, Doug(Linda), Darlene(Richard), and Steve(Jen). His grandchildren Quinten(Codie), Cameron(Vanessa), Michael, Melissa(Johnny), Carly, and Austin. His siblings Helena, Adina(Wally), and Willie(Maria).
