The family sadly announces that Judy (Judith) Marie Richards passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2025, only 3 weeks after her husband Brian of 65 years passed away. Judy will be deeply missed by many people, but especially by her 4 children, Geoff Richards (Jill), Kim Morey (Bill), Barry Richards (Christine), Kristine Wolf (Jake). Judy also had 8 Grandchildren that she loved dearly, Matthew Morey (Brittany), Stuart Morey (Katie), Taylor Richards, Chelsey Richards (Dawson), Justin Richards, Hanna, Abigail, and Levi Wolf. Because of her love for her family Judy’s home was also filled with numerous pictures of the Great Grandchildren. Averi, Reece, Kyle, Alaina, and Max.
Judy Marie Herbert was born in Windsor Ontario, Essex County on June 4, 1941. As a young lady she fell in love and married the love of her life Brian Geoffery Richards. Soon they had 4 little bundles of joy. In 1969 they packed up the family and moved to BC to start a new life.
Judy and the family loved the outdoors; She loved nature, creation and the family vacation often centered around wilderness camping and nature hikes. For many years Brian and Judy had a place on Whatchan lake where they would spend most of their summers. Judy loved her family first and foremost but also had a love for 4 legged companions. Most of us can remember Bumbles, Cleo, Charlie, and Luna, just to name a few pets.
Once the children had grown up and left home, Judy worked for close to 20 years as the bookkeeper for the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rutland. Brian and Judy also sang in the local choir for years bringing joy to so many people.
Judy will always be known for so many things; her love for people extended to all her children's friends as if they were her own, always showing kindness, love and warmth to all she met. She also had passion for cooking; she was an excellent cook and loved to bake especially around Christmas time. Every year she made sure everyone got lots of homemade sugar bread cookies, they sure were good, especially the ones with sprinkles. She will also be remembered as the strong silent type; she always listened intently as others spoke and when she spoke it was with a special incite and wisdom. Her words were always filled with kindness and love. She also never failed to correct any foul language in her house.
Life was not without challenges for Judy. In the early 1990’s, Judy was diagnosed with breast cancer, being a little scared as most of us would be, she did what she felt she needed to do and met the challenge head on and survived over 35 years from that traumatic event. About 10 years ago she was diagnosed Parkinson's disease, another horrible life changing challenge. Judy again met that challenge head on. She was determined to make the most of her life and tried to enjoy every moment she was blessed with. Judy was a fighter and an excellent example to all of us who may be facing a life challenge.
The family would like to thank so many of the doctors and nurses that cared for Judy over her lifetime, but especially those in the last few weeks on the 7th floor of Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Thank you

Mom, Judy, you will be forever missed as we all loved you so much. There will not be a formal service for Judy, the family will hold a small celebration of life in the future most likely at Whatchan Lake her favorite camping spot.
