To the Heatheringtons,

I would like to say how sad I was to hear of Ken's passing and my condolences go out to his surviving family. 

Ken and I lost touch with one another many years ago, however I have fond memories of Ken as my classmate in Winnipeg at Kelvin High School and chumming around with other friends from the old neighbourhood of Fort Rouge and at those infamous parties at the Hiscox residences. 

We also called the old neighbourhood Fort Rouge "Stanley" significantly named after local pool hall on Corydon Avenue.  During those endless school free periods and/or cutting classes we ended up at this pool all exercising our amateur skills at billiards and many other notable pool games.  In addition, before we played pool we would get jacked up on Cappuccinos and other European drinks famous at the time from the Italian restaurants up and down the avenue. To this day I can't have these caffeine drinks.

Ken was good guitar player and it was always his dream to be in a real rock band.  As apart of his deeper and wider friends Ken did play for us friends on many occasions.  At the time, Ken and I liked Grand Funk Railroad and he played many of that bands 'hits' for us all.  Also, Ken accompanied me as DJ with other guys like Binky (Bob Vickets),  Grant Young, and others for Kelvin' noon hour lunches and after school dances.  Those were good times full of endless fun indeed.

I could go on down memory lane but Ken left Winnipeg so long time ago but I did see him briefly at his mother's funeral in 1999. I believe memories are important especially that I am older in my early 70s.  For that reason and countless others I am glad to have known Ken when we were young, starry eyed and full of a bright future.

Once a customer. Became a friend. Always with a smile, a crazy story to tell and a laugh to share. A stellar human being and his passing is a loss to the community. He’d say he’s just an old guy who likes to play music, but anyone who knew him, knew he was talented, supportive and inclusive to his fellow musicians. My sincere condolences to Cat. The love of his life. His constant companion- in sickness and in health. My heart breaks for you. Hoping you can still find his light in the darkness these days will bring.

My condolences to Ken’s immediate and extended family on his passing. Ken was a class act on stage and off and some of my most treasured musical memories are of playing in the house band for a couple of years alongside Ken and David Knight lending support for the Blue Gator acoustic jam.
Rarely an evening went by without some musical magic courtesy of David, Ken or one of a myriad guests, but through it all, Ken kept his indomitable sense of humor and always had a positive word of two for the most nervous neophyte who may have been feeling a little, or a lot, nervous.
RIP my friend … the house band in the sky just got a little better !!!

So sorry to hear of Ken's passing. Know that our prayers and thoughts are with your family at this time. Peace.
