It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth L. Osborne, age 64, in Kelowna late in the evening of May 9, 2025. Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
From a young age, Ken had an unwavering love for sports, whether it was playing, coaching, or cheering on his favorite teams. Hockey held a special place in his heart as he played the game with great enthusiasm throughout his youth and into adulthood. His passion for sports was contagious and many fond memories were made around the big screen or in the stands cheering on his team.
Beyond his love of sports, Ken had many hobbies that brought him great joy. He loved fishing and boating on the lake, lounging pool side and spontaneous road trips. Traveling with his wife was one of his greatest joys, creating memories and sharing experiences as they explored new places together. Ken had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, endlessly exploring the subjects that inspired him.
Ken’s love story began with many seemingly chance encounters with Corinna. The jury is still out on who chased who, but one thing was clear, his beautiful blue eyes were impossible to resist. Together they built a beautiful life, side by side, for 46 years. Through every adventure, challenge, and triumph, they were a team, supporting each other in ways only true soul mates can. They spent every single day together, creating a love story that spanned nearly half a century. His devotion to her, and hers to him, was evident in every moment. As he said, "we’re partners, we’re soul mates, we’re good for each other."
After raising his young family in the lower mainland, Ken brought them back to the place he loved most, the Okanagan. It was here that he created a home for his wife and children, eager to share the fond memories of his childhood with them. The Okanagan was not just a place; it was a piece of his heart, and he was thrilled to pass on that love to the next generation.
Ken overcame many hurdles in life but none were greater than the accident in 2010 that changed his life forever. Although, the doctors were sure he would never walk again, Ken was determined to regain his freedom. After multiple surgeries, countless hours of daily therapy and 14 long months in a wheelchair, we were never more proud of him than when he proved them all wrong and took his first step. From that day forward he never looked back.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Corinna; four children, Ria (Cody), Cody (Katelyn), Tanis (Travis) and Kenny; two grandchildren, Henessy and Daniel; brother Bill (Connie) and grand-dog Zoey. He is predeceased by his father Bill and mother Fran. Service to be held at Valley View Funeral Home (165 Valleyview Rd, Kelowna, BC V1X 3M5) on May 24th, starting at 1 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend, share memories, and honor the life of a truly special person who will be deeply missed.
Everyone who remembers Ken is asked to celebrate his life in their own way; perhaps by raising a glass of their favorite drink (Ken’s was orange juice) in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or we hope that you will perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in Ken’s honor.
