My best friend, love, teacher and sunshine in my life.  I write this with a very heavy heart, as it has been a month since you left us, and I miss you more with each passing day. Kris and I met in March of 2014 at a fundraiser called 12 Bands in 12 Hours. I fell in love with him the moment I saw his calm way, his smile and that beautiful hair!  I had to meet him.  We then exchanged smiles and hello's and hadn't been apart since. It was spring and Kris had just purchased the Hobie kayak and camper and we were going enjoy our mutual love of the outdoors and lakes to the fullest - we were excited! Our first camping experience was at Albus Falls on Shuswap Lake, and it continued to be our favorite spot to hike a few times per year.  On our next adventure, Kris wanted to take me to the Kootenay's and show me Christina Lake and the places he loved going when growing up there.  We visited many places on our trip that year, going through Christina Lake, Trail, Castlegar, Nelson and Crawford Bay.  I teased Kris that it was like being on vacation with my social teacher because he would tell me history and stories about so many of the places we passed or visited.  Hiking into the natural hot pools above Christina Lake was quite the experience. They have walking sticks at the start of the hike and I quickly understood why, as they were very much needed in the rugged terrain.  Kris spoke of how he and his father would go hunting in the fall each year and how much he enjoyed sitting quietly in the bush for hours on end trying to spot an Elk or Moose.  Kris loved to spend time at the McCrea family cabin on the Shuswap, and was instrumental in helping my Dad with the many projects he had going on.  With his truck we were able to visit the cabin in the late fall and winter, when there is no one around and Kris could play his music as loud as he wanted.  Snow shoeing in this past January was a great adventure! This past April we took a weeks holiday on Vancouver Island.  Another place that Kris had spent 4 years at when he was a young adult.  We drove everywhere on the Island, and exploring Port Hardy was nostalgic for Kris, as was visiting other cool places ~ Victoria, Nanaimo, Tofino and Ecluelet and everywhere in between ~ stopping for roadside picnics by the ocean and having fun wherever we went. Kris was very knowledgeable about many things, and if he didn't know he would google it and figure it out. Kris was a very patient man who would spend as much time as needed to repair, modify or make better anything you presented to him.  He could fix anything and was very talented at using his many tools and gadgets.  Kris loved to cook and took care of us by doing all the grocery shopping and most of the cooking. I would come home from work or a meeting and Kris would have gourmet meals ready for us to enjoy together.  We loved watching the sun sets together, drives in the country, walks in the mountains or parks and kayaking on the many BC Lakes. Kris loved to get up early and could be found outside or in our garage (his man cave) in the early mornings.  He would work on his computers, play his favorite game (Forces of War) and watch the latest Linus You Tube videos to update himself on the newest technology. He was self taught in many area's of technology, and building "kick ass" computers (as he would say) was his specialty. During the week we had a morning ritual of sorts, where Buddy the cat and Kris would peak around the corer into the bedroom with a big smile and we would say good morning and I would ask him about the weather that day.  He would often bring me a coffee and we would chat before he had to get ready for work.  When Kris was looking for a job, all he wanted was to be able to walk to work.  Well, it worked out perfectly for him when he got the Truck Driver's job at the Upper Room Mission a few blocks away from our home.  He was always so happy to go to work and we would kiss and hug goodbye every morning and I would see him skip out the door with his knapsack on to walk to the Mission. He always walked with a skip in his step and a smile on his face.  His boss, Pete said he would arrive at work and his smile and optimism would permeate through to the kitchen staff, the office staff, the stores and then to everyone he picked up goods from all day.  Kris was the person his truck's slogan "People helping People".  Kris would do anything to help anyone in need and went above and beyond what was expected of him. When Kris drove Limo on the weekends, he was always so excited to see what they day would bring.  Wine tours and weddings were his favorite, and he enjoyed being their chauffeur.  His positive, happy and vibrant energy always affected others and you couldn't help but smile when in his presence. Kris loved his 4 children and would tell me stories of when they were growing up and the things they enjoyed doing together.  Kris was very happy to have his 3 grandchildren move to Kelowna last year.  This gave him a chance to see them any time he could and get to know their little personalities. For Kris, his family always came first and everything else second. I will keep the many memories Kris and I shared close to my heart.  Always harmonious, loving, adventurous and fun.  We loved and lived life together and I will look forward to the day we meet again. Rest in Paradise Honey xo


Going to miss my brother, think about him each day, still having problems knowing what to write. A lifetime of having a brother. Now he's gone. How do I put this emptyness on paper. My heart goes out to his kids, and Michelle and all who've been toiched by his kindness. Going to miss our conversations that we never ended. Love you Kris.

Words cannot express the sadness that has overcome me from your passing Dad. You were a great Father, through thick and thin, you were always there and never gave up on me. A very proud Grandpa, it hurts that you won't be around as the kids grow. Alyssa will always remember you and Brock is very concerned with who will take care of your fancy car (the limo). It will take a long time to get over this, it was so sudden and shocking. I know I will find a way to keep you close though. Thank you for all you've taught me, and all you continue to teach me about life and it's preciousness. I love you Dad.

My thoughts are with you all. All I have is fond memories of Uncle Kris, his loud music and his never ending playlist. Hanging out at your place was always a standard on our trips to Kelowna. His booming voice and happy demeanour is how I will remember him. Grandma Sibley, Grandma K, Uncle David and mom were all there to welcome him.

Dave and I have gone on many adventures with Kris and Julie. We floated the Kettle and the Shuswap river numerous times, to many to count. Had some crazy fun times floating down the rivers with few mishaps, one time on the Shuswap river, the water was high and the current swift and the Nautica (the name of our Costco floatation device) found itself impaled on roots from a fallen tree early in the float. We spent the remainder of the float taking turns with the air pump keeping ourselves afloat till we got to the exit point.                                               One summer we got the great idea to float on Kalamalka Lake. It was a typical Okanagan sunny day when we started out, Kris and Julie in their "looks like a zodiac" blow up boat with a intermittently working electric motor, Dave and I were  all by ourselves in the huge Nautica. We had a great time exploring parts of the shoreline you can see from the highway, but can only get there by boat. Suddenly the wind picked up and clouds started rolling in quickly, we immediately started for shore but Kris' electric motor was no match for the storm and died. We all were paddling our hardest but our floating island was being pushed to the opposite shore we needed to be. We put Kris' white t-shirt on the end of one of the paddles and Julie waved the white flag while the rest of us continued to paddle. The lake had been full of watercraft activity but nobody wanted to come to our rescue, they were all saving themselves. Finally from shore a guy and his ten year old son battled the waves on their seadoo, as he is towing us to shore he tells us that he didn't want to be the one to save us but watched as everyone else ignored us and knew it was up to him, he told us that he just had a vasectomy the day before. As the guy is telling us about his painful situation, his son is patting him on the shoulder, it was very sweet.                                                                                                    Well the bottom finally ripped out of the Nautica and we haven't found a way to repair that yet so we've had a two year hiatus from floating. Recently we just became float worthy again and were planing a maiden voyage with Kris and Michelle... Some of our best times were spent with you Kris, going to miss your smile, your laugh and your fun spirit. You were always first in line for a new adventure, I'm sure that's why you chose to be first for this adventure too. I am so sad. Kris and I met only two years ago. I love Kris. He was such a beautiful guy. I am so sad for his family, Michelle and his friends. He was my newest friend and it is so heartbreaking.

My Condolences to Kris' family, his children, grandchildren, and Julie, my sister-in-law. Kris was a fine Uncle to my children who always enjoyed our visits. Rest in Peace Kris. You were a fine Brother-in-Law.

I'm thinking of you today Michelle and sending lots of love and strength your way. I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to meet Kris last summer. My favourite memory was that amazing kayak ride down that BC river on a most perfect summer day. All three of us laughed a lot that day! xo

Ben and I are very sorry to hear of Kris' passing. I am sure Grandma Grace, Bonnie, Susan and his Uncle David were waiting to greet him at the pearly gates. Kris always had a smile and was a generous host putting up with many of his family, especially at Christmas when we all seemed to descend upon he and Julie for Turkey dinner,  many years running. We aren't able to attend the Memorial for Kris but he will be in our hearts and minds this Saturday.  Our sincere sympathies to your family.
