

Leon was born on the family homestead in Wynyard Saskatchewan June 20, 1936. He was the last of five children born to Paul and Mary ( Wolitski ) Proznick. Alice ( Bartlett ), Adolf , Orest and Eugene siblings. (All predeceased) Leon left the farm in the mid-50s to attend Business College in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. It was soon after that he met the Love of his life Eleanor Stadnyk , marrying in 1959 and soon after that started their family , raising their son William (Bill) wife -Dena Sklar , grandchildren ( Augustina , Brendyn , Madison ( Brandon ) ), and daughter Lorelei (Lori) husband Donald Ruszkowski , grandchildren (Dustin ( Destiny) and Dallas (Ashlyn) , great grandchildren ( Hannah and Hudson ) Leon attended Saskatoon business College then later entered the workforce as a Professional Salesman for the large part of his life. His First job starting at Canada Packers Meats … later Burgess Batteries … then Dominion Auto Accessories. Never wanting to sit idle, he continued being busy , working for Northridge homes in Saskatoon and always having a sideline , whether it be summer businesses with Eleanor and Bill owning the General Store at Baker’s Bungalows in Waskesiu Saskatchewan , or with Eleanor owning Fountain Gifts in Waskesiu.
Not forgetting of course Lewl Enterprises (Leon Eleanor William Lori) with his son Bill, son in law Don and many of Bill’s friends fencing on the high prairies of the province, pounding posts and stringing wire on weekends.Leon’s pride for the community shined, as volunteer for The Brier in 2000 and The World Junior Hockey Tournaments in 1991 and 2010. Leon and Eleanor enjoyed many years in the North Country in their cottage at McPhee Lake. Always the entertainers their friendships were many, family, relatives and friends were paramount in their lives.
After losing Eleanor in 2020, Leon moved to Kelowna BC to be close to Bill, Dena and their Family. They will be forever grateful to have had the last few years with their Dad, Grandfather and Uncle introducing him to their circle of friends whom he enjoyed every chance he had.
As well, a special mention to the memory of Arleen Sklar, Dena’s mom, who enjoyed Leon as a roommate until her passing in 2023. To his Special Friend Myrna Baker whom we are grateful for her Love and Companionship she shared with Leon these last years.
To Doctor Bains, her Team and all the wonderful people at The Kelowna Cancer Centre, as well as the many doctors and nurses at KGH and Doyle Ave Clinic, he was appreciative of all of you. To his Wonderful Caregivers Dawna, Arlene and Ricco, Joy, Maria and Jenny many thanks to you. To the many Pals and Friends from “The Hilton” ( The Warman Hotel ) “Neon Leon’s” memory shall live on , knowing that his signature drink “A Leon” will continue to be enjoyed. He missed you ALL this last while since leaving Saskatchewan.
A small private celebration of life will be held in Kelowna, In Spring of 2025 Leon will be taken back to the Prairies for another Celebration of Life
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Fund in memory of Leon.
