I loved spending time with Nana.
The most meaningful times her and I had together were in Kelowna. I would come over to her place every other week and we would just drink wine, eat yummy food and talk, rant, banter and laugh about our weeks. Enjoying each other’s company. She was interested and entertained by my stories as I was with hers. Her laugh was the best sound and it was contagious. I enjoyed the comfort of going to Nanas. I felt at home when spending time with her. I can still remember the classic comfort smell Nanas condo has! Even on some weekends I couldn’t come by, just talking to her on the phone it was really nice to just hear her voice. She was tough but on a deep level she truly had a big, soft and caring heart. She wouldn’t hesitate to help those she loved, she always wanted to take care of us. I’m grateful for each moment I got to spend with her, we had a lot of good times that I will remember forever.

Although she has passed, I know she will continue to remain with all of us in spirit. I love Nana and I will miss her deeply.

Lil was a force of nature! She had very exacting standards for both her own behaviour and others. As her son-in-law, I can attest to the rigour required to live up to her expectations. Having raised two wonderful kids, Shelly and Rick, she was the wonderful grandmother to Ryan, Kyle, Jordan, Joshua, Karsten, Shayley and Adrian. She was a great-grandmother to Jayden (and soon-to-be, Baby G).

She adored her grandkids, even when she was tuning them up for one thing or another. She did so out of love and concern for their well-being and future. After losing her beloved Prince Charming, Gordon McQuarrie, far too early to Hepatitis C, she moved to Kelowna until the time of her passing. We are glad that she came to visit us as often as she did. She loved to laugh; she loved to banter; and she was always willing to wash and mend our clothes, cook for us, and help fix whatever was broken in the house. Her work ethic was impeccable, and she was a shrewd and fierce customer to deal with in any financial transaction. She did not suffer fools gladly.

We will miss her constant nattering, singing, fussing, tidying, and love for us. She made our lives so much more interesting and fulfilling.

We will take comfort in the lessons she taught us and the love she bestowed on us. REST in PEACE, Nana!!
