It is with heavy hearts that we said our last goodbye to our mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Margaret Elizabeth MacMillan (nee Smith), in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 31, 2015.
With her family by her side and surrounded by their love she peacefully took comfort in the heavenly arms of her mother & father (Peggy & Bert Smith), her older brother (Jim Smith) and her grandsons (Jason Storey & Ryan Robinson).
Mom was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, May 1, 1929 to Albert George and Margaret Greig (nee Campbell) Smith. She leaves to mourn her passing, her younger brother Al (Marlene) Smith of Thunder Bay Ontario, plus many nieces and nephews.
Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Doug, her daughters, Lynn (Edgar) Fleury, Dawn (Larry) Storey, Sharon (John) Hogan, Susan (Michael) Nichols and Karyn (Shawn) Robinson. Her grandchildren Liane (Dean) Edwards, Catherine (Chad) Cyr, Brian Fleury, Tyler Fleury, Christina (Jody) Wurst, Jamie (Angelika) Hogan, Amanda (Dustin) Tobin, Meaghan Nichols, Caitlyn Nichols, Brittney Nichols, Kristen Nichols, Ricky MacMillan, AJ Robinson, and Samantha Robinson. Her great grandchildren Brandon Keir, Jay Cyr, Bree Ann Mouro, Ryelynn Mouro, Ashlie Wurst, Emma Wurst, Gavin Hogan, Kayden Tobin, Carter Tobin, Eva MacMillan and her great great grandson Tobias Keir. Mom is also lovingly remembered by our special sisters Jane and Karla Nordquist.
Our Mom had a soul full of kindness & compassion for everyone she met. She regularly greeted all her special friends from Helen Gorman School, where she is fondly remembered as Gramma Mac, with her beautiful smile. Mom left such a positive impact not only on us but on so many young girls during her many years with the Canada Girl Guide Association, as a Guide Captain and as a Brownie Leader.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Kelowna General Hospital for the exceptional care you gave our Mother. A special thank you from us for the kindness and sympathy you showed to our family.
Dad will be taking Mom on her final journey to her eternal home with her Mom, Dad and brother Jim at the Mountainview Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She will be interred on her birthday, May 1st, 2016.
