My deepest condolences to the Berry .

Marguerite made a difference in heritage in Kelowna.

She had been a board member of the Central Okanagan Heritage Society (COHS) and also a member of Kelowna  South-Central  Association of Neighbourhoods   (KSAN).

I remember Marguerite participating in Heritage week, dressed in period clothing,  organizing heritage house tours,  taking the lead on heritage plaques that was a project of KSAN and ready to help out in any way.

She will be deeply missed.

2009 trip to Nanaimo and Gibsons with Darren and Mary Lestage

We are gutted by the loss of a beloved aunt, and heartbroken that we can’t be there to pay our respect in person. 

Auntie Marg was an amazing woman, mother, grandmother, sister, wife, friend. As far back as I can remember, I only have fond memories of time spent together. She was always accommodating, making anyone who darkened her door feel welcome. For us, it meant vacations in Kelowna. At the time, I was not keen about having to pick and can fruit, but looking back as an adult, I know now that it was valuable family time that we appreciate more than we could ever know.

She loved her family more than anything.  She is one my role models as a parent, sibling and grandparent. I admire the adventurous “once in a lifetime” trips that she and Clark embarked on, especially in retirement. I know there is a lot more that she would want to see and experience, but she was taken too soon. 

Auntie Marg was a warrior for anything she believed in, a straight shooter, in a kind way.  Always giving back, volunteering, paying it forward in her very humble way. Not only was she a great human, but a fantastic ambassador to the City of Kelowna, doing it not for the glory, but to make life better for her community.

While there are countless memories, the one that Mary and I will cling to is our boat trip to Nanaimo and Gibsons. We had such a great ‘skipper and first mate’ team, and would never have experienced that without them. But aside from the awesome scenery and expert navigation skills, that trip marked a milestone in terms of 1-1 time spent with them, including lots of laughs. Mary and I are forever thankful that we got to experience that. They gave us valuable insight into how retirement should be enjoyed to its fullest.

We know she has left an indelible mark in all of our hearts, and would want us to celebrate her and keep her alive in our thoughts, words, and actions. Cheers to you, Marg Berry.
