Maria Hansch

MARIA HANSCH passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, with her husband Christian at her side. Maria was born on April 22, 1936 in Omsk, Russia, USSR, of German heritage, daughter of Adolf and Pauline Gerstner. After completing her medical school studies, she married her husband Christian in 1966 and they came to Canada in 1976.

Maria will be lovingly remembered by her children Ernst Hansch (Audrey) and Eleonora Jugnauth (Anand), her grandchildren Elisabeth, Heidi, Amalie, Tristan, Tyson, Colton, Gabrielle, Logan and Brayden, nephew Norbert Hansch (Laura), niece Ilse Hansch Pflug (Manfred) as well as great nieces and nephews Ernst Hansch (Lori), Christian Hansch, Erika Pflug and Marcus Pflug (Laurie) and their children, as well as family in Wenatchee, Christopher Hansch (Susie) and their children. In Germany she leaves behind her sisters Natalie (Arno) and Erna (Jakob) as well as nieces and nephews Sofia, Eleonora, Robert, Eduard, Lena, Andreas, Anna and Nikolai. Also in Germany is family Lina Hansch and her daughters Erika (Christian) and Olga (Wolfgang) and their children. She was predeceased by her parents Adolf and Pauline, brother Adolf, as well as mother-in-law Irma Hansch, brother and sister-in-law Ernst and Gerda Hansch and sisters-in-law Gertrude (Ivan) and Ilse.

Oma was a kind, loving mother and grandmother, and devoted, faithful wife, who grew up in difficult times, but knew how to persevere. She was an example to all and will be truly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday June 7, 2025 at First Memorial Funeral Home , 1211 Sutherland Ave , Kelowna
