Mrs. Matilda Tillie Dorothy Staats Dundass

Matilda entered into rest at the Kelowna General Hospital, Saturday February 13, 2010. Matilda, “Tillie” is survived by long time, loving companion of 21 years, Steve Pietrucha and children, Dorothy Payne (Ken), Daniel McAuliffe (Gloria), Sharon McAuliffe and Nora Walker (Pat). Grandchildren Kendall Payne, Andrea Kennedy (Bruce), Carolyn McAuliffe, Michael McAuliffe, Erin Gilmore (Colin) and Kate Walker. Great grandchildren – Amber Kennedy, Amelia Kennedy, Caelan Gilmore, Grace Gilmore, Paige Payne, Zachery Bansley as well as many nieces and nephews.

Tillie, daughter of Robert Staats & Eleanor Seidler was born on February 6th, 1927 in Neudorf, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Trail, BC, where she married Gerald McAuliffe in 1944 and began her family. Over the years Tillie and her family lived in Upper Hat Creek, Lillooet, Burnaby and Cranbrook , BC. Eventually Tillie moved to Kelowna where she met and spent her remaining years with Steve. Tillie was predeceased by Gerald and 2nd husband, Stan Dundass, one son Jerald John McAuliffe, and siblings Phillip Staats, Mary Callaghan, Jake Staats, Katherine Gavins and John Staats.

Tillie loved life and had quick wit. She enjoyed cards, was an accomplished cook and was very creative with her hands. Tillie’s talent for sewing, knitting & needlepoint produced many fine works of art that will be cherished by her family.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at Valleyview Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 7:00-8:00 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Theresa’s Parish Church - 750 N. Rutland Rd, on Monday, February 22 at 10:30 AM with Interment to follow at St. Theresa’s Cemetery - 2860 Sexsmith Rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
