With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Maureen Lyn Murray (Lagimodière), a vibrant soul who brought joy, laughter, and music to all who knew her. Born in The Pas on August 16, 1954, to Violet (Vi) and Maurice (Moe) Lagimodière, she married Robert (Bob) Murray on July 1, 1978, and had 2 children: Michelle and Blair. They raised their family in Winnipeg, and life eventually brought them back full circle to The Pas. In 2013, mom and dad settled in Kelowna—her true happy place, where she felt most at home.
Maureen was a social butterfly whether it be attending events or planning them. She was always ready with a smile and love connecting, chatting, and sharing stories. The friends she made in the village were ones that were her support, joy, and home away from home when her immediate family was far away. A lifelong lover of music, she especially adored Elvis, whose songs brought her comfort and energy throughout her life.
A devoted bridge player, she cherished the many hours spent around the card table with her loving husband and dear friends. Those games were less about the cards and more about companionship, laughter, and shared memories.
Maureen also treasured the many trips she took with her husband, family, and friends—most recently a wonderful getaway to Mexico and a memorable bus trip to the Sunshine Coast. Her love of the colour blue reflected her spirited personality and joyful presence.
Maureen studied the Course in Miracles, and these teachings were an important source of comfort that helped sustain her through life’s trials and tribulations. She navigated life’s journey with both tremendous courage and grace.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob, daughter Michelle (Jason), sisters Judi (Gerald) and Leslie (Barry), brother Mark (Fawn), brother-in-law Bruce (Valerie) and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. She was predeceased by her parents, Vi and Moe, her son Blair, her brother Greg, her sister Valerie, her in-laws, John and Elsie, her brother-in-law Stewart and sister-in-law Jan.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CMHC British Columbia.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday December 14th, 2025 at 2pm at the Sunrise Village Clubhouse, 1255 Raymer Ave. Kelowna, BC
