Olive was born on February 12, 1927 to parents John and Gertrude in Boissevain, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert and three siblings, and she is survived by sons Owen and Eric and three grandchildren.
Although born on a Manitoba farm just before the Great Depression, Olive spent most of her adult life in the Okanagan and grew to love her adopted home. She went on to develop a keen interest in the region's human and natural history, serving for a time on the executive of the Penticton Chapter of the Okanagan Historical Society. A crack bank teller and bookkeeper, loving mother, and sharp and enthusiastic card player, Olive was always ready to pitch in and help a neighbour.
