Pauline (Polly) Becker past away peacefully on March 16th, 2016 at Sunpointe Village at the age of 86 years old. Pauline was born January 9th, 1930 in Whitesand, Saskatchewan to Wasyl and Nellie (Stefanyshyn) Shumay. On October 21 1950, Pauline married William Becker in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. After a short stay in Yorkton, they moved to Fraserwood, Manitoba to begin a farming life. 25 years and 5 children later, Pauline and William retired from farming and relocated to Kelowna, in June of 1974. In their years of semi-retirement, William and Pauline enjoyed working in the Rutland area, including at the local bakery (Edeleise Bakery) at Plaza 33, and at a local orchard. As the years went by, Pauline and William were able to watch their children grow, get married, and start families of their own. They also enjoyed traveling; their favorite vacations spots being Reno, Hawaii, and the Prairies. Years to follow, Pauline saw many loved ones pass on. She was predeceased by her parents Wasyl and Nellie Shumay, her husband William Becker (1994), her brothers Matt, John and Nick Shumay, and her grand children Brent (1993) and Evan (1995). Left to cherish her memory are; her son Larry (Loretta) Becker of Winnipeg Manitoba; her son Allen Becker (Shiela) of Kelowna BC; her daughter Theresa (Ron) Hagel of Kelowna BC, Grandchildren Christopher and Karla (Vincent) and Great-Grandchild; her son Garry (Diana) Becker of Kelowna BC and Grandchildren Cole and Andrew; her son Richard (Angie) Becker of Kelowna BC and Grandchildren Maggie and Maxwell; her brother Henry (Elenor) Shumay of Yorkon, Sask.; her sister Mary (Mike) Klym of Saskatoon, Sask.; her sister Olga (Kenny) Braun of Kelowna, BC; her sister-inlaw Effie Shumay of Yorkton, Sask; her sister-inlaw Doreen Shumay of Vancouver, BC; and sister-inlaw Anne Shumay of Yorkton, Sask. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews, and family and friends. Pauline was a beautiful, warm-hearted woman, who loved to entertain and socialize with family and friends. She had a smile and a singing voice that could light up an entire room and anyone who met Pauline could not forget her fun, life loving attitude. Over the past 6 years, she made many friends at her home at Sun Pointe Village. She continued to attend, and looked forward to her Sunday mornings at her local church, St. Theresa’s (Corpus Chisti). She will be missed dearly by everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Pauline’s family would like to extend a grateful thanks to all the staff at Sun Pointe Village that treated Pauline with the greatest respect, dignity and wholehearted care. We would also like to issue a special thank you to Pauline’s church family at St. Theresa's Parish (Corpus Christi) for spiritual support and ongoing prayers. We also would like to show appreciation to Pauline’s physician, Dr. J. Brown for all his care and attention. In closing, Pauline’s family would like to especially thank the Briem Family, the Rimmer Family, the Hagel Family, the Limer Family, and the Netz family for all the great family memories, and gatherings throughout Pauline’s life.
