

With profound sadness and love, we announce the passing of Per Kjell Sundin, 91, who died at his home in Kelowna on March 23, 2024. He was born to Amalia and Per on October 14, 1932 at the family homestead outside of Archerwill, Saskatchewan. Kjell attended school in Archerwill in a one-room classroom.
He went to work in Melfort and met Bruce McEwen, who convinced him to become an air traffic controller. Kjell decided to follow that path and attended school in Winnipeg. While in air traffic control school, Kjell met the love of his life, Hazel and they were married on May 27, 1964.
He also received his pilot's license in 1959 and he purchased a plane with his friend, Bruce . He retired from air traffic control in 1988.
He then went to work for Mulder Construction and retired from them in 2002.
Kjell travelled the world. and visited many, many countries. Him and Hazel were also certified as scuba divers and enjoyed diving in the Caribbean, Hawaii and also did diving in frozen lakes in Manitoba. Hazel and Kjell spent 25 years wintering in Hawaii.
Hazel and Kjell retired and moved from Winnipeg to Kelowna on January 1, 1993. Kjell became very active in politics, both provincially and federally, and met many lifelong friends.
Kjell was predeceased by his parents, Amalia and Per Sundin, his dear wife, Hazel, sisters, Anne and Ruth (Sweden), and brother Harald (Sweden)
Kjell is survived by his nieces, Sonja (Allan), and Verona, nephews Kim (LaVerne) and Harald (Val) and great as well as great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived in Sweden by nieces, Sally, Annika and Anita, nephew, Bengt, cousins Anita and Torbjørn, and other relatives.
He had many, many friends that he also loved and cherished that he has left behind.
Kjell will be remembered for all of his trivia stories, great memory, and love that he shared with everyone.
We would like to thank the Nurse Next Door caregivers for their exemplary care that they provided and Kjell called each of them "Angel". He enjoyed them all and was happy to see each of them
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 1 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services (Dignity Room) 1211 Sutherland Ave in Kelowna. All friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Kjell's honour.
