Born on April 7,1939, in Vancouver BC to Estelle (Bobbie) and Robert Richmond, Bob spent his early life in Tappen, BC, on the farm of his grandparents, Beatrice and Wallace. He often spoke of the joys and trials of farm life, treasuring the hard work and love of his grandparents. Subsequently the family moved to Kelowna where Bob attended school and made lasting friendships.
After high school, Bob moved north to Prince Rupert and in 1961 he met Jan, who would become his wife and the love of his life. Bob and Jan moved their young family to Kelowna in 1972 and remained there throughout their working lives and into retirement. In these later years Bob cherished time with his family and friends, always engaging with curiosity and an open heart.
Bob’s life was marked by kindness, generosity, humour, and a beautiful presence. He was known for his warmth and steady wisdom, but his most singular gift was his creativity. Bob was an artist and through his paintings he inspired thoughtful contemplation on themes of stillness, love, and an invitation to be present through the vagaries of everyday life.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan, his children, Pam and Greg, grandchildren, Nicolas (Skye), Adrian (Tracy) and Hana, and great granddaughters, Beatrice, Fiara, and Eliana. He is also remembered with love by his niece, Debbie, and numerous cousins, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Bob is predeceased by his loving mother, father, sisters, and nephew, who he held close in his memory.
Bob’s legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A service to honour his life will be announced at a later date.
