Sylvia Loretta Murray

Age 79, passed away on Tuesday Aug 14, 2018, in Central Okanagan Hospice House, Kelowna, B.C. surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Halifax, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Estella (Boutilier) and Thomas Oakley. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife and very thoughtful and generous to both family and friends.

Sylvia leaves behind a daughter, Heather Bruce, Kelowna, B.C; sons, Roger Mckay, Edmonton, A.B.; Roland Murray, N.S.; a grandson, Darren Bruce, Edmonton, A.B.; granddaughters, Corinne Mckay, Vancouver, B.C.; Kristyn Mckay, Edmonton, A.B.; Kayla Bruce, Prince George, B.C.; great-grandsons, Brent and Brayden, Prince George, B.C.; sisters, Barbara, Rosalie, Nancy, all in Nova Scotia; brothers, Michael and Tommy, both in Nova Scotia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roland; sister, Julia; and brothers, Joseph Everett, James, Gordon.

The family wishes to thank her niece, Ann Lindanger, Halifax, N.S. for all her help during Sylvia’s illness. A special thanks to Dr. Hendriks and the hospice care team.
