Thomas Ford Landale

Thomas Landale, who was born and raised in Kelowna passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on November 21, 2018. He will be forever remembered by his loving family: longtime partner of 34 years, Pauline, his four children: Ted (Darlene) of Kelowna, Debra (Mark) of Vancouver, Wash., Dorian (Liz) of White Rock, BC, Sheila (Paul) of Burnaby, his five grandchildren: Andrew, Scott, Caitlin, Alison and Liam, and his two great grandsons: Tyler & Owen, his nephew Dr. Richard Snowsell and by Pauline’s sons: Chris (Janyce) and David (Camela) and their families. Sadly, Tom was predeceased by his wife Grace, sister Mary (Frank) Snowsell and niece Bev Williamson. Thomas grew up in Ewing’s Landing, (on the Westside of Okanagan Lake by Fintry) and moved to Kelowna at the age of 10 years old. As a young man he signed up with the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained as a rear gunner in Summerside, PEI. After the Air Force Thomas met and married Grace Paterson-Caw and together they raised 4 children. They enjoyed being members of the Kelowna Yacht Club, loved boating on the Okanagan Lake and took numerous trips to San Felipe, Mexico. Tom worked for 25 years with the Kelowna Printing Company and was a longtime Kelowna volunteer fireman who received an award for his 30 year plus dedication. He then owned and operated Landale Cleaners located on Lawrence Avenue. When it was time, Tom entered retirement which enabled him to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, model airplanes, photography and gardening. He loved his hockey and was an avid Kelowna Rockets season ticket holder. In November of 1982 he invited a young lady named Pauline to attend a game with him and this date led to many more. Their journey together allowed them to enjoy travelling to Hawaii and England, boating, hockey games and golf. A Celebrate of Life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
