Winnifred Jane Stepanowich

STEPANOWICH, Winnifred Jane (nee: McFARLEN) passed away peacefully at home in Winfield, BC, September 29, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1997. She will be forever missed by her 5 children, Reta (John), Andy (Martha), John (Ida), Becky (Gary), Kathy (Jack); 7 grandchildren Bob (Josie), Tina, Christopher, Shaun (Natascha), Melinda, Kelton, Savannah and 5 great-grandchildren Shelby, Morgan, Eric, Logen and Parker. Winnie was born Sept. 9, 1923 and raised on a farm outside of Regina, Sask. and trained there as a nurse. She practiced in Chicago, Edmonton, Aklavik and was the district nurse for many years in northern Alberta. In addition she raised and taught 5 children, ran a Fur Trading Post was Post Mistress and famous for her never ending hospitality and cooking. She was the sunshine of our home and touched the hearts and lives of everyone she ever met. The family could like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the care givers for their dedicated care and loving support. A Memorial Service will be held in Calgary on Nov. 24, 2012, contact family for details. In lieu of flowers please donate in her name to the following: Kelowna Hospice House, Kelowna Gospel Mission or the Canadian Red Cross.
