I spent a lot of time with Papa, I moved in with him after I got divorced at a young age and lived with him for 3-4 years until I met my señorita. I cherish that time spent with him. I’ll always remember late nights watching Stanford & Sons and Gunsmoke, Rangers Baseball and the Mavericks with him. We spent many nights talking about westerns, cows, family, women, tough times, good times, personal struggles and life’s blessings. 

I’ll never forget the days working cows with him, putting out hay, welding on the barn and fixing fence. 

One evening when we had finished working, he asked, “Want to go look at the cows up-back?”  “Of course”  I said, so we headed up-back in the mule. The sun was setting in front of us as we drove, sun in our eyes but it wasn’t uncomfortable; actually quite the opposite. The red sky was beautiful. The windows down, the cool breeze felt great. I took a mental picture of what I saw, of where I was, what I was doing and what my senses were feeling. I will always remember that moment. I looked at him to my left, the red sun shining on him, lighting up his eyes. He didn’t even notice me looking at him. He didn’t know what I had witnessed. 

I will always remember the days spent with this family.  Ervin would race cars in the early days, and then went on to ranching. The years of work he put in on the family farm were many.  I would always get to go with them to the farm as a kid, and this family made me feel so welcome.   My heart is broken right now for Sherry, Gary and the entire family.  I hope the family can find peace soon, and just know that God has a place for us all in his house.  One day, we will once again, rejoice together.



you were one great man that I always looked up to, admired and loved. I am proud  to have you as an Uncle. I remember you going from living up the street from us moving to the country in a trailer and building you beautiful ranch.  The stories you could tell and the smile on your face will truly be missed. Love Hugs and prayers. Oh and give Granny a hug for me

I have only met this wonderful man a couple of times he made me feel welcome and has a place in my heart from the first hello you will be greatly missed 

I went to a family dinner at his ranch.  Always a great man.  Just saw on Friday and spoke with him a few minutes. Talking about his cattle and about the snow earlier in the year. Rest in peace.  Gentle giant. Will miss your spirit!  



Uncle Ervin I wish had told you how much you truly meant to me I will miss all the stories you told me seems like a 100 times and  how much they changed from time to time. Debbie Loved you a lot but I do regret that I never told or showed you how I loved you. I am happy that all your pain is over I can see you starting to tell all your brothers and sisters- Aunt Leona & Kenneth - Elmer & Granny all your stories  Love from the Eddie Cline Family
