Catherine Modeas

Katie was born to Christopher and Helen Roussi on November 24, 1930. Shortly after graduating from Niagara Falls High School, Katie met the love of her life, Harry Modeas, on a day trip to Crystal Beach. The couple married in 1952, and had four children: George, Christopher, Eleni, and Harry Jr. (Baki).

Katie will be remembered for the generosity and care she extended to everyone who walked through her front door. For six decades, the Modeas home on Hancock Terrace was filled with the warmth of Katie’s Greek cooking and the charm of Harry’s spirited tales, drawing in family, friends, and neighbors alike. Aside from entertaining, Katie enjoyed spending time in her garden, sewing, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Katie was predeceased by her husband, Harry G. Modeas Sr., her brother, Constantine (Gus) Roussi, her sister-in-law, Patricia Roussi, her son, George Modeas, and her daughter, Eleni Grandits. She is survived by her siblings, Sylvia (Frank) Kennedy and Soteris (Marianne) Roussi; her children, Christopher (Renae) Modeas and Harry G. Jr. (Teresa) Modeas; her children-in-law, Roberta Modeas and Paul Grandits; her grandchildren, Andrew, Nicole, Christopher, Sophia, Alexander, Sydney, Lexie, Niko and Sam; and her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Olivia, Abigail, Elise, Selva, and Ondina.
