Beloved husband of Sheila Montfort Hess and the late Suzanne (nee Doherty) Hess; loving father of Thomas (Jean) Hess, Kathleen (David) McAvoy of Wellesley, MA, James (Cynthia) Hess, Molly (Richard) Knodel of West Chester, PA and Melissa (Joseph) Santone; loving grandfather of Catherine, Andrew, Thomas (Amanda), Jack, Sarah, Alex, Eric (Sarah), JC, Jaclyn, Julia, Christopher; also survived by three great-grandchildren; stepfather of Michael (Chris) Montfort, David (Kathy) Montfort, Ellen (Chris) Becker and eight step grandchildren; brother of the late William, Edward and Bernard Hess.
