

Albert Andrew Bridges ( Al ), age 89, Passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2020 in Rydal, Georgia. He was born on February 1, 1931 to the late Albert and Helen Bridges in Floyd County, Georgia. On July 13, 1960, Al married the love of his life, Sandra Edwards, and they spent the next sixty years together, making incredible memories before his passing. Al was a Soldier in the Unites States Army and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He was employed by Lockheed – Martin as an inspector at his time of retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and working in his yard. He often grew green beans, okra, tomatoes, squash, peanuts, and watermelon. He enjoyed the harvest season so, that he could share all the fruits of his labor with his family and church family. He also enjoyed playing golf and listening to country and gospel music. He loved to cook for his family and spend quality time with them. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Al was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia since 2009. He served on the security team and enjoyed being involved with the church and helping them in any way he could. Al was saved when he was 18 years old and as he grew older his love for Jesus grew stronger and stronger. Al was loved by everyone he met. He will be missed dearly.
Al Bridges is preceded in death by: His son, Gregory Bridges; sister, Josephine McEarchen, Velma Bridges; and brothers, Randall Bridges, Charles Bridges, Winford Bridges, Jimmy Bridges, Deedie Bridges, and Franklin Bridges. He is survived by: His wife, Sandra Bridges; son, Tim (Kay) Bridges; daughters, Brenda (Steve) Saunders, Donna Bridges and Vicki (John) Summerour. His Sisters: Mary Ann Hale, Sara Money and Mardean Doubleday; brother-in-law, Trammel McEarchen. His Grandchildren: Timothy (Sarah) Bridges, Jonathan Bridges, Casey (James) Lyle, Michael (Kayla) Bridges, Crystal Kirby (Michael Gibson), Hannah Bridges, Steve Saunders, Sam Saunders, and Katie Saunders. His Great-grandchildren: Gabriel Gibson and McKenna Bridges and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Al Bridges will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:00am, at Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest following the service at Pineridge Memorial Park.
