Dalbert (Dal) George Fitch, 98, of Kennesaw, Georgia, died peacefully at the WellStar Paulding Nursing and Rehab Center on June 5, 2025. He was born March 18, 1927 in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Dalbert and Catharine Fitch.
Dalbert joined the US Navy in 1945 and was assigned to the U.S.S. Noa DD-841 as a Yeoman. After leaving the Navy, Dalbert attended Severn School in Severna Park, Maryland and then the University of Georgia where he studied Forestry. Dalbert married Anita Raiford Kemp and lived in Mableton, Georgia. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Company after 33 years as a sales manager.
Dalbert was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia where he was ordained a deacon, taught Sunday school and served as Brotherhood Secretary. Dalbert joined Kennesaw First Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon and teacher. Dalbert was also active in the Gideons International, and went on home missions to Colorado and upstate New York. After retiring from Sears, Dalbert and Raiford enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.
Dalbert was preceded in death by Raiford, his beloved wife of 71 years, and his brother, Albert (Ed) Fitch of Annapolis, Maryland. Survivors include his son, Lon Fitch (Paula) and Randy Fitch (Karen) both of Kennesaw, Georgia, three grandchildren Catherine (Eugene) McKinnon, Jonathan (Amy) Fitch, Joshua (Erin) Fitch and eight great-grandchildren. Two step-grandchildren Robert (Julie) Worthington, Opel (Chris) Mallinger and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 1:30 PM in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. with Rev. Jud Henley, officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to Kennesaw First Baptist Church in Dal's memory.
