Mr. Long was a twenty six year veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, cooking, and was exceptional on the grill. To say he had a heart of gold, is an understatement, always willing to lend a helping hand and make the world a better place. Spending time at the lake, camping, and refurbishing cars were a few of his favorite pass times. Though he found joy in all of these things, his greatest joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather. Dan was an active advocate with Community Oncology Alliance and CPAN for five years where he worked tirelessly to bring about positive change. He was a member of St. Claire of Assisi Catholic Missionary Church and was very rich in his faith.
Mr. Long is survived by his loving wife of twenty years Mrs. Vicki Long; four children, Daniel ‘Neal’ Long of Emerson, Connor Gerrard Long of Acworth, Shannon Marie de Jesus, husband Anderson, of Marietta, and Nicole Louise Gomez of Marietta; his mother, Dorothy Long of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Lou Long of Concord, NC, and John Long of Washington, D.C.; sister, Sarah Parker of Augusta; six grandchildren, Anthony, Jasmin, Brian, Nicolas, Sally, and Araceli; multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
