Donald Phillip Turner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Hiram, Georgia. Born on June 10, 1953, in Atlanta, Georgia, to his cherished Ralph & Mary Turner, Donald lived a life full of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
He met the love of his life at a local skating rink—a chance encounter involving roller skates and shared sips of pickle juice. That quirky beginning led to a love story for the ages, and they married in 1975. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, faith, and family.
For over 40 years, Donald worked as a service technician for BellSouth. Rain or shine, he showed up—reliable, dedicated, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He took pride in being a good provider, and even greater pride in being present for his family.
Donald was a man of many passions. He earned his pilot’s license simply because he believed the sky shouldn’t be the limit. He loved scuba diving and practicing karate with his kids—making memories beneath the waves and on the mats. A loyal fan of the Atlanta Falcons, he cheered with his whole heart. But above all, Donald will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his quiet wisdom, and his kind heart.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Turner and Mary Poss Turner; his wife, F. Laraine Turner; and brother, Darrell Turner. He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Phil) and his wife Shalon, Michael (Shane) and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Aslin, Ryland, Jackson, Kyle, and Eve-Laraine; and siblings, Terry, Wayne, Karen.
Funeral services for Donald will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy. NW., Kennesaw, GA 30152. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Committal service will take place following the funeral service at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
He was the kind of man who fixed what was broken, stood strong when others wavered, and never stopped showing up. He is survived by the family he loved deeply and leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, and love. Fly high, Donald. You’ve earned your wings.
