Douglas “Doug” Layton Allen, 69, of Acworth, GA, passed away on June 28, 2023. He was born on May 7, 1954, in Cortland, NY. Doug was a kind and loving man who made everyone feel welcome. He was a hard worker who loved his family dearly. Doug attended Reynoldsburg High for his high school education and later pursued higher education at St. Leo’s University. He was a Navy Veteran serving our Country for 20 years. Doug enjoyed collecting coins, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. He was an active member on North Metro Church. We will always remember Doug as a kind-hearted man who loved Jesus and shared his faith with everyone he met. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Karen, and their children, Jon, Jason, James, Bethany Horsley, and Rachel Cook, also, one sister, Nancy Allen and brother, David Allen. Doug was a proud and loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor Doug’s life will be held on July 2nd, at The Grove, visitation will be held from 4:00 until 5:00 PM with his celebration of life beginning at 5:00. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Grove cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Doug’s honor to be made to MUST Ministries.
