Born 17 weeks early, Emma came into this world a fighter. After many complications and setbacks during her first 18 months, Emma made it home to her family where she has enjoyed a full life and was loved so well by all who had the honor of knowing her. Emma’s feisty personality and expressive face allowed her to communicate with the world around her without ever having spoken a single word. Although limited in most ways, Emma found her own joy in the people and things around her; afternoon walks around the neighborhood with her nurses, watching Disney movies with her sisters, and spa days having her nails painted were second only to playing with her favorite makeshift toy, “tubie.” Although she is gone, she will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. She was nothing short of remarkable.
Emma is survived by her parents Amanda and John Bierkamp, Jr.; sisters Jenna Bierkamp, Jaycee Bierkamp, and Isabel Navarro; grandparents Raymond and Cynthia Navarro, Charlotte and Roy Kellett; nieces and nephews Avery, Adelynn, Marleigh, Kayden and Leo; along with aunts and uncles Sharon (Michael), Ava Michelle (Charles), Georgette, Tristan, and Tony; and her lifelong nurse/honorary family member Sandy Turpin and her family. Emma was preceded in death by her grandfather, ”Papaw” John Bierkamp, Sr.
