Mrs. Frances Bennett McFerrin of Kennesaw died Friday, August 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Dr. Gene Tyre, her former pastor, will be officiating. Interment will be next to her husband, Earl Arch McFerrin, at Arlington Memorial Park.
Mrs. McFerrin was born in Austell, Ga. to Howard and Lillie Bennett. She was a standout basketball player at Mableton High School in the very early days of women’s athletics. She also was the valedictorian of her class. With the advent of WWII, she immediately began working for the war effort in Immigration and Naturalization Services. She met her husband while working as his secretary and they were married in June 1952. When children began arriving, her real job began…that of Homemaker and Mother.
Mrs. McFerrin was a loving, gracious, selfless woman to her friends and family. She loved to laugh, never met a stranger and kept everyone entertained with her stories and antics.
She was a long time member of Eastside Baptist Church.
She is survived by a loving and blessed family:
Children: Cathy McFerrin (and Scott) Purswell
Stephen (and Amanda) McFerrin
David (and Rhonda) McFerrin
