A son of the Bronx, Frank was born on August 11, 1949, to Charlie and Giaconda ‘Chickie’ Cardinale. After graduating from Bishop DuBois High School in Manhattan, Frank pursued a career in the trades and became an electrician. He was proud to be a part of helping build and develop New York City. In 1972, Frank moved to Florida and continued his professional career as a master electrician and successful business owner. His company, Cardinale Electric, worked on thousands of residential, commercial, and civic projects throughout southeastern Florida. He was a true professional who took pride in his work and continued to mentor those interested in pursuit of a career in the trades well after his retirement.
As a lover of sports, including his Yankees and Giants, his true pleasure and relaxation was in horse racing. Frank was a horse owner and raced his horses at Pompano Racetrack in Florida. Also a shrewd and wise handicapper, he could be seen on most weekends at Gulfstream or Calder enjoying the racetrack atmosphere. Trips to Saratoga, Belmont, Aqueduct were common, and he relished the Breeders’ Cup, Triple Crown and other big racing days on the calendar with ‘nice cards.’ Most of Frank’s days at the track were - profitable. His passion for sports was also evident on the softball field where he coached his daughters for many years and impacted the lives of many.
Frank moved to Georgia in 2018 and underwent a successful kidney transplant which enabled him to remain active and enjoy a better quality of life. Frank was very involved with St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Acworth, the Knights of Columbus and his large family.
Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his time with loved ones. He had a large heart, a larger laugh and was dedicated and determined to provide for his family. Loved by his children and adored by his grandchildren – Frank was strong, kind, loving, and supportive.
Frank was predeceased by his loving son, Nicholas. He is survived by his wife, Francesca Marotta; his children Annemarie and Michael Pontillo, Frankie Cardinale, Michael and Judith Arsenault, Matthew and Suzie Arsenault; Grandchildren – Gaetano Frank ‘Nino’, Gianna, Gabriella, Jovanni, Kevin, Alina, Rosie, Nathan, Angelo, Penelope, Audrey.
