

James “Buddy” Curtis, 90, of Dallas, Georgia passed away June 20, 2025, at home. Buddy was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, Georgia since 1981 and also attended Dogwood Church in Tyrone, Georgia.
Buddy was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, June 18, 1935. He graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1954 and served in the U.S Navy Reserve Division 675 in Chattanooga for 7 years and attended Okaloosa-Walton College in Niceville, Florida.
Prior to his retirement in 2001, Buddy was employed with Food Giant/ Food Lion Supermarket for 31 years where he held positions as manager, area supervisor, regional supervisor, buyer, merchandiser, and director. During his employment, he continued his education through Cornell University programs.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann McKibben Curtis, Dallas, Georgia. Daughters Kimberly Swan (Ted Swann), Kristy Mitchell (Carlos Mitchell), Karen Lynn Curtis of Dallas, Georgia. Grandchildren Dreama Black (Jonathan Black), Robert Mitchell, Julia Mitchell Leeds (Michael Leeds), Dr. Alec Curtis (Dr. Marenda Curtis), Olivia Curtis, and great-grandchildren Ted Black (Sophie Black), Kimberlyn Black, Annaliese Black, and Adrian Van Lane.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Annie Curtis, sister Annabelle Redding, brother Dr. Charles Curtis and son Dr. Jeffery Van Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations are made in Buddy’s honor to their beloved church, Roswell Street Baptist Church.
