

James “Too Tall” Hilary Meeks Sr., born November 21, 1947, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 78. He will be remembered as a patriotic, kind-hearted, generous, and easygoing man whose steady presence and trusting spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
“Jim” devoted much of his life to serving his country. He proudly served 35 years in the United States Air Force and continued his commitment through many years in the National Guard as an avionics technician. His dedication to the military and love for his country were evident throughout his life and remained a defining part of who he was.
Above all, Jim cherished his family. He adored his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in the time he spent with them- laughing, sharing stories, and cheering them on. He had a deep love for music, especially classic rock and blues, and was a loyal supporter of Atlanta sports teams. Jim also had a lifelong passion for cars—particularly his beloved Corvette—and followed NASCAR with great enthusiasm. He found peace and satisfaction in gardening and caring for plants, embracing the simple things in life.
A devoted member of Kennesaw Church, Jim served his community with the same faithfulness and dedication that marked every area of his life.
He leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, love, and steadfast devotion to his family and the country he proudly served.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus and Betty Meeks. He is survived by his brother, Dale Meeks (Terry), his two sons, Hil (Kristine) and Marshal (Natalie), and his beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alyssa, and Tripp.
His legacy of kindness and dedication will be treasured by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, located at 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA, 30152, on February 18, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service is scheduled for February 19, 2026, at 9:00 am at Kennesaw Church, located at 1801 Ben King Rd, Kennesaw, GA, 30144.
The committal service will take place on February 19, 2026, at 11:00 am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA, 30114.
