In loving memory of James (Jim) Robert Mohr, born on August 19, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, to William & Margaret Mohr, James’s journey through life was marked by faith, service, dedication, love, and laughter. He peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation for James will be at Kennesaw First Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A service to honor James will begin at 10:30 AM with Pastor Perry Fowler officiating. James will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00 PM
James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, both stateside and in Vietnam until his honorable discharge. His thirst for knowledge led him to continue higher education, attending the University of San Francisco, earning a Bachelor of Art degree, emphasis in Political Science. His professional life was equally impressive, working as an Immigration Officer in various States and finishing his 30 years of service as an Assistant Director at FLETC with Homeland Security.
Faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of James life. He was a member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church and a past member of the Gideons International.
One of the great joys of James life was his family. He took immense pride in watching his children grow, guiding them through their journey to graduation, both high school and college. He cherished the time spent on family vacations and in later years cruising to experience the history he’d studied. James valued hard work, a clean life, and wise stewardship of his time and resources. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He had a love for jokes, always on the lookout for new ones to share.
James is survived by his loving wife Betty Mohr of 55 years; children, James Robert Mohr II, Kathleen Ann Mohr, and Stephen David Mohr & wife Jamie; brother, Jerry Givan; grandchildren, David James Mohr, and Mary Mae Mohr. He was preceded in death by his parents William Mohr and Margaret Givan; stepfather Richard Givan; and brother, William Estill Mohr
James will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to influence and will forever remain in the lives of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, with the knowledge that his life has touched many and his faith has guided him home.
