Joe Ann "Jody" Gwin

Jody was born in Hickory Flat, MS in 1927 to Lee and Lavelle Crain. She grew up in Memphis, TN, graduated from Treadwell High School. While working for the phone company, she met L.E. ‘Red’ Gwin, whom she married in 1949.

Jody and Red were married for 52 years until Red’s death in 2001. During their marriage, they traveled—often on a moment’s notice—made life-long friendships, built a beautiful home on Lake Chatuge, and were active in the Methodist church. Jody and Red raised three sons, Lee, Steve, and James in East Point, Georgia. After retiring from her secretarial position at Lakeshore High School, Jody and Red moved to Hiawassee where they happily hosted numerous friends and family over the years.

Jody is survived by her sons, Lee (Gail), Steve (Elaine), and James (Beth), grandchildren Justin (Joanna), Whitney, Jesse, Katherine, Christopher, Rebecca, Nicholas, Michael, Caine, and Jesse, and great-grandchildren Brennan, Deven, and Connor.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, June 25, and services will be 11 AM Wednesday, June 26th at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), Jody was a two-time cancer survivor, or to Camp Glisson (www.glisson.org)
