Mr. Sexton retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years; he also served in the Vietnam War. Following his military career, John worked at Lockheed for three years. Mr. Sexton enjoyed working in his garden, however, his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family.
Mr. Sexton is survived by his wife Mrs. Shirley Ann Sexton; two sons, John R Sexton Jr. of TN, and David H. Sexton, wife, Jill Sexton of Tacoa, GA.; daughter, Lisa Hearn, husband, Gregg Hearn, of Chickamauga, GA.; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Michael, Ethan, Justin, Ashley, Kelly, Will, and Brittney; three great-grandchildren, Briana, Sage, Bailey.
Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents, John and Herdis Sexton; a sister Janice Sexton; brother, Randall Sexton; and his son Jeffrey Morris Sexton.
Funeral services for Mr. John R. Sexton will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 4:00pm in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
