

John A. Zumbado Jr., passed away on August 11, 2024. John was born on May 23, 1961 in Huntsville, Alabama. He grew up in Maryland, where he met his wife, Susan Zumbado. After John graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1979, he went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland. In 1991, John married his wife, Susan, where they spent an amazing 33 years together and had three children Sierra, Marisa, and Austin.
John was a devoted husband and father to his family where he treasured every moment with them. He was a proud grandpa and was adored by his grandson, Brooks. John was deeply loved by his family and they feel so blessed to have been cherished by such an incredible man. He protected, provided for, and fiercely loved his family with humility, grace, and the kindest of spirits. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and community.
John had a lifelong passion for photography where he had an eye for capturing the beauty in the world and wholesome moments of his family. In addition, John enjoyed capturing photos of lacrosse games for the Allatoona Lacrosse team and the Atlanta Blaze. Other passions included playing tennis with his family and friends, attending the Caffeine and Octane car show, and traveling with his wife. John grew up playing baseball and was a passionate fan of the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves (for his children’s sake). John was loved by so many and touched the lives of everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Juan A. Zumbado and Virginia Dabbs. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Zumbado; children Sierra Goldsmith, Marisa Zumbado, and Austin Zumbado; son-in-law Brandon Goldsmith; grandson Brooks Goldsmith; sisters Dolores Zumbado and Jodi Hunter; and stepmother Donna Zumbado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. All who knew and loved John are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
