Joyce Ann Hammond, 78, Kennesaw, Georgia, formerly of Greentown, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Camellia Place in Woodstock, Georgia. She was born October 14, 1943, in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of the late William & Juanita (Powell) Morton. On July 10, 1964, in Swayzee, IN, she married Art Hammond who survives.
Joyce was a 1961 graduate of Eastern High School. She received her RN from Ball Memorial School of Nursing in 1964. Joyce retired from Sun Data after 15 years of service as a purchasing manager. From 1964-1966 she worked as an RN for the Ft. Wayne VA Hospital.
Joyce attended Antioch Christian Church in 1978, Boca Raton Christian Church from 1980-1985 and Northwest Christian Church from 1985 to the present. She cherished raising her 4 children with an abundance of love and plenty of discipline. She was the best mom in the world!
Alongside a loving 57 ½ year marriage to her high school sweetheart, Joyce’s life was marked by an incredible spirit of giving and hospitality. Her home was always open to long- and short-term guests, who were often treated like family with home cooked meals and great conversations. Her heart for serving others extended outside her home to her church where she served with humility and grace. Her God given attention to detail and organization, along with an uncompromising work ethic served her well throughout her life.
Along with her husband Art, Joyce is also survived by her children, Kristi (Hauke) Van Gunst, Fayetteville, GA, Troy (Susan Kane) Hammond, Naperville, IL, Mindy (David) Coons, Colorado Springs, CO and Cory (Charlie) Hammond, Winchester, KY; 26 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and sister, Karen (Marvin) Stout, Converse, IN.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
