February 26, 1947 – August 6, 2025
Joyce Wilson, lovingly known to all as “Grana,” passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Born on February 26, 1947, in Marietta, Georgia to her dear parents Andrew & Sallie Smith, Grana lived a life full of grace, laughter, and devotion to those she loved.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating to honor and celebrate her beautiful life.
In April of 1967, Grana married her best friend and the love of her life, Tommy Wilson. Together they shared fifty-eight wonderful years filled with love, faith, and adventure. She was a proud graduate of Marietta High School and a lifelong member of Maple Avenue Church, where her faith was a steady light in her life.
Joyce worked for eleven years at Marietta Police in the records department but found her greatest joy professionally in her eight years as a preschool teacher at Noon Day Christian Academy, a role she often called her “all-time favorite job.” Her gentle spirit, patience, and joy for life made her a natural with children, touching countless young lives.
She was a woman of many talents—an excellent seamstress, a lover of good books, a skilled baker, and a master at canning, pickling, and making jelly alongside Tommy. She treasured shopping trips with her dear granddaughter Natalee, and more than anything, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who were the pride of her heart.
Known for her quick wit and sharp mind—especially when it came to numbers—Grana was also known for her kindness, gentleness, and a smile that could light up a room. Her infectious laugh drew people in, and to know her was truly to love her.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband Tommy Wilson; son, Jeffrey Thomas Wilson; daughter, Ginger Aghajanian & husband Fred; brother, James A. Smith, Jr.; sister, Jeri Woody; grandchildren, Ashlee, Natalee, Tiffany, & Blake; great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Hayden, & Caden; niece, Traci Kemp; nephew, Joe Woody; great-nieces & nephews, Arden, Aniston, & B.J. She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ben Woody
Grana’s legacy is one of unconditional love, steadfast faith, and joy in the simple pleasures of life. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth and light will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
