Laquieta Joyce Ballew

Laquieta Joyce Ballew, age 90, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Laquieta was born in Cassville, Georgia to the late George and Edna Hall. She served the Lord faithfully and attended church regularly her whole life, teaching children’s Sunday school classes, vacation bible school, and attended N. Ga. Walk to Emmaus, women’s Circle and Sunday School groups. Laquieta was a member of Piney grove Baptist church, Wentworth Memorial Baptist Church, and the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Laquieta will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing her.

Laquieta worked as a retail accounts bookkeeping auditor, as an insurance salesperson, also in bookkeeping and secretarial roles as well as assisting her husband in construction for many years. She was extremely crafty and could crochet, embroider, sew, write in calligraphy and cook up pear preserves. Laquieta also could play the piano and planted beautiful flowers. She was also a fan of mystery and western movies and greatly enjoyed traveling in the US and foreign lands.

Laquieta is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years; George Patton Ballew Sr., son, George Patton Ballew Jr., brother, George Willis Hall Jr., and sister; Gwendolyn Hall Bentley.

Laquieta is survived by her children; Kerry Allen Ballew (Donna), Edna Leisa Ballew-Seatz (Billie), Thomas Ross Ballew, and William Joseph Ballew, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Laquieta will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. The funeral will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. A committal service will occur Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1605 Mars Hill Rd, Acworth, Georgia 30101.
