

Laverne "Bim" Haas, 87, passed away Thursday, February 26, at Tranquility Hospice in Kennesaw, GA after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia, and by his sister, Pat (Ed) Finnigan, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Katherine Haas, and by his sisters and brother-in-laws - Doris (Robert) Brady and Genevieve (Fran) Barkham.
Mr. Haas was a WW11 veteran in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany and served as an M.P.
A Michigan native, his working career included over 30 years as a Claims Adjuster with Royal Insurance in Detroit and Grand Rapids and he was a member of the company's Royal Guards.
Over the years, he enjoyed fishing with friends in Michigan and Canada, skiing at Boyne Mountain in Michigan and Aspen, Colorado, golfing, and boating on Lake Bella Vista at his home in Grand Rapids. He was a gardener who was blessed with a "green thumb" and could make anything bloom. In the early 1990s, Mr. Haas served as a volunteer at Doctors' Hospital in Sarasota.

Cremation has taken place and a "Celebration of Life" service will be held:
