Mrs. Lucille Brazel Woodlief, age 87, of Marietta passed away Friday, July 03, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with visitation with the family at 12 noon.
Born in Los Angeles, California, on July 9, 1927 to John and Marie Brazel, Mrs. Woodlief graduated from Burbank High School in 1945 and Glendale College in 1947. Upon graduation she met her husband of 63 years, Horace L. Woodlief, at a dance at the famous Hollywood Palladium. It took a courtship of 5 years for him to persuade Lucille to marry him, but they were wed in 1952. Lucille was an executive secretary for Lockheed in Burbank before the birth of her children.
She had a special attachment to her brand-new 1965 Ford Mustang and refused to move to Georgia in 1967 without it. Lucille will be missed by her friends and family for her quick wit and lively intellect. An avid reader, she worked for a time as a substitute teacher for Cobb County Schools and for the Gateway Book Store in Marietta. She served faithfully as the guardian of display tables at antique shows and of old cars at car shows with her husband. She was a fixture at the Marietta Museum of History and donated her Girl Scout books. Her grandsons could always count on her for her undying support and for her artistic help on any project. Original crafts, handmade cards, and ceramics were her specialties. She enjoyed traveling and especially trips to the beach with her grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Patrick Brazel, and survived by:
Husband - Horace L Woodlief of Marietta
Children - Susan & Allan Shupe of Dallas, GA and Robert & Kathy Woodlief of Suwanee, GA
Brother - Charles Brazel of Tacoma, WA
4 grandchildren - John Shupe, Dr. David Shupe, James Shupe, and Kate Woodlief
