Mrs. Marcella Foster Singletary, age 93, of Kennesaw, GA, died Sunday, November 10, 2024. Even though her name was Marcella, she was affectionately known as “Granny,” not just to her immediate family, but to everyone that spent time with her. She considered everyone family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw, GA. Visitation will be from 12 – 2 p.m. with a service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill King officiating. Burial will follow immediately in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
Marcella Singletary was born in Calhoun County, FL and grew up in Irwinville, GA. She moved to and resided in Cobb County for the last 74 years. She retired from Cobb County School District with 30+ years of service as a bus driver. She was blessed to transport generations of children in the Marietta and Kennesaw communities. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Marietta, GA for 74 years. During her time there, she was an active member of the choir and could always be found serving others with her talent in the kitchen. Her home was always the place for family and friends to gather for social events, pool parties, and holiday celebrations, all of which included her fried chicken and okra, chocolate cake, homemade ice cream, and sweet tea among many other specialties. She could always whip up a meal or dessert on a moment’s notice.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Becky Foster; her husband of 60 years, W.L. “Buddy” Singletary; her siblings, Herman Foster, Doug Foster, Reba Day, and Glendon Foster; son-in-law, Glenn Bloodworth; and grandson-in-law, Trey Adams.
Marcella is survived by her brother Archie Foster; her children, Patricia Bloodworth, Dadwin (Jan) Singletary, Dickie (Teresa) Singletary; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Andy) Gramling, Bryan Haynes, Heather Adams, Matthew (Jenny) Bloodworth, Rebecca (Kelvin) Richey, and Misty Skellenger; her great grandchildren, Amber Richey, Courtney Haynes, Morgan Gramling, Foster Adams, Kinzey (Brady) Turner, Lauren Gramling, Jimmy Richey, LynLee Adams, James Richey, Caralyn Schlampp, Lexie Richey, Shay Richey, Kaden Skellenger, Hollis Bloodworth, Brock Bloodworth, and Colton Bloodworth; great-great grand-child, Briggslee Turner. She also leaves behind a large extended family including cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank her cousin, Diane Dale (dog, Lucy) for the love and care shown to her, especially over the last few years.
