Margaret "Peggy" Amanda (Blackshear) Deckner

Margaret “Peggy” Amanda (Blackshear) Deckner, 91, passed away on December 12, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, to James and Ellie Blackshear, and was always proud to call Atlanta her home.

Peggy met the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Deckner, at the age of 14. They began dating when she was 16 and married in 1953. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that lasted 53 years until Chuck’s passing in 2006. Together, they raised two daughters, of whom they were immensely proud.

A true southern lady, Peggy exuded grace, elegance, and impeccable style—always dressed to the nines. She was a devoted housewife and mother who found joy in caring for her home and family.

Peggy loved spending time with Chuck, and together they enjoyed the many travel opportunities provided by his longtime career with Delta Airlines. She especially treasured their visits to Daytona Beach Shores, a place she often said felt like where she was meant to live.

Peggy held a close and personal relationship with God and worshipped at First Baptist Church of Acworth for the past 18 years. She loved deeply in her own way, and her direct nature meant you always knew where you stood with her.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Debbie Deckner Benton & husband Charlie, and Dana Deckner Mixon & husband Greg; her grandchildren, Ashley and Alexandria; great-grandchildren Taylor, Avery, Sloane, Landry, and Myers; great-great-grandchild Charlie; as well as Dana’s step-daughter, Alexandria, and her daughter, Olive. Peggy is preceded in death by her loving husband Charles “Chuck” Deckner; parents, James & Ellie Blackshear.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Rosemary, Jennifer, Trinity Hospice, and Celebration Village for the compassionate care shown to Peggy over the past several years.

A simple gathering to honor Peggy’s life will be held on December 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
