Marie Nerlande Belabre Gaspard was born on September 19, 1959, in Petit-Goave, Haiti. The second child of Georgette Belabre and Firmin Ade. She went to high school in Haiti. Later in life she got married to Eddy Gaspard and together they have two beautiful and loving girls, Vanessa and Stephanie.
She worked at New York Foundling Hospital and moved to Georgia in 2003 then worked at WellStar Kennestone hospital in the telemetry department for 17 years. A profession that she truly loved and excelled in. She was recognized as a skilled and dedicated employee. For her work was another home, and coworkers became her extended family. She was selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. Not only was she a mother to her kids but also to her nieces and nephews. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that's all that ever mattered to her.
Her home was always open for everybody. She always found a way to bring the family together. Especially during the holidays her nieces and nephews would always look forward to spending time with Tatie Nannan. Even her children’s friends became her extended nieces and nephew. She would cook and have gathering at the house all the time. She may seem quiet, but she was the life of the party. She loved life, enjoyed traveling and dancing. And her favorite saying was “One Life to live, so live it”. She was very stylish with her vibrant personality and was always full of energy and positivity. She smiled and booming laugh endeared her to her friends and colleagues.
She also was devoted to God. She went to church often and would pray attending many charismatic events all over the US. She was a proud member of the group Pitit Manman Marie of Atlanta.
She will be missed.
Nannan, as we called her, is survived by her daughter Vanessa, son in law Emmanuel Maitre, her grandson Nathaniel Maitre and her daughter Stephanie.
