Queen Ann (Alajian) Jones, a colorful and spirited woman with a distinct laugh and great sense of humor, passed away at Legacy Ridge of Marietta on Sunday morning, August 20, 2023. She was the widow of Robert Lee Jones and they were married for 29 years. From their union came two daughters: Melissa Jones Quindsland (Monique) and Amanda Louise Morse. She was also a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren: Robbie, Ellie, Ashton, and Frankie.
Queenie, as she was known to many of her friends, was born in Methuen, MA to Frank and Louise Alajian on September 22, 1939. She had one sister, Myra, who she loved dearly. Queen was educated at Boston University where she earned a Bachelors in Music Education and a Masters in Voice. Once she graduated she went on to sing professionally for several years and then spent 13 years teaching music to both elementary and middle school students in Windsor, CT as well as Waltham, MA. It was during that time that she met her husband, Bob. She would eventually give up teaching in order to raise her kids, but spent 28 years working at Hallmark stores part-time because she loved it. She could always be counted on to send a card for any holiday, birthday, or memorable event in her friends’ lives. She also enjoyed acquiring collectibles and giving little gifts anytime she found something that made her think of a particular friend or family member.
Queenie was known for being highly extroverted, with a mischievous and playful manner. Even in her last days she was still cracking jokes and entertaining everyone around her. She loved being out on the town with friends whether it be shopping, dining, or attending an arts performance with friends; she was always the life of the party. She instilled an appreciation of the arts in her daughters who recall enjoying musicals, choir concerts, and symphonies with her. Mount Bethel was Queen’s home church and she spent many years participating in their amazing choir, her weekly Sunday School class, and joining different Bible study groups. Whether it be inspiring interest in faith, art, a good laugh, or simply living her life authentically, Queen Ann Jones truly lived a full life and made sure to have as much fun as possible while doing it.
Queenie is predeceased by her husband Bob, her sister Myra Barlett (Edgar), and her brother-in-law Phil Sublette. She leaves behind her daughters Melissa Quindsland (Monique) and Amanda Morse, her four grandchildren: Robert Quindsland, Elinor Quindsland, Ashton Morse, and Francesca Morse, as well as her sister-in-law Karen Sublette.
