Roger George LaVigne, 89, of Acworth passed away on April 23, 2019, peacefully in his sleep. He was born to parents Alice and Tom LaVigne, on March 24, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired from AT&T in 1989.
Roger was a mechanic, an engineer, a tinker, a fixer, a devoted husband as well as an amazing father to seven challenging children who love him with all of their hearts. He was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Smyrna and St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Acworth.
He married Dolores Leonard, the love of his life, in 1956, who survives him. This year they would have celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary. Roger is also survived by his son Tom LaVigne, daughter Rosanne LaVigne, daughter Linda LaVigne, daughter Michele LaVigne, daughter Laura Hough and husband Kris, daughter Mary McDonnell and husband Mark, son Doug LaVigne and wife Melanie, as well as seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lorne LaVigne of Fort Worth, Texas, along with his four children and their families.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, April 28th 2019 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 29th 2019 at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. Roger will then go to his final resting place at Georgia National Cemetery.
